Vietnam Mining Overview
Mine Production Information
Vietnam has seen an increase in foreign investment in mining and an increase in metal production as well as in industrial mineral production. Production of bauxite, of which Vietnam has comparatively large reserves of 2,100,000,000 tons, rose from 250,000 tons in 2013 to 1,000,000 tons in 2014. Vietnam has also produced 5,400 tons of tin in both 2013 and 2014, though the total reserves are still uncertain. Production of Tungsten rose from 1,660 tons in 2013 to 2,000 tons in 2014, and estimated reserves amount to 87,000 tons.
Vietnam has a large rare earth mine that is worked by artisanal miners. Rare earth metal mine production fell slightly to 200 tons in 2014 from 220 tons in 2013.
